7.3 reliable

finally found the time to take my 7.3 to get fixed today. Has an oil leak somewhere. most definitely the HPOP lines (no biggy)..anyway back to what im getting at. This 7.3 didnt break a week ago or a month ago. NO it broke almost 18 months ago. It has sat at my shop collecting dust for that time period. we moved it with a skid loader when needed. Anyway, it needed to go on the trailer. I went and got 2 new batteries, and hooked them up. Plugged truck in overnight, this morning i get to shop. Let glow plugs cycle, and start cranking. After about 20 seconds of cranking im starting to lose faith, AND THEN, the rpms start to jump, truck shakes a little, im hearing chugging noises under the hood, and i look in my mirror and a smoke cloud comes flying out, and its ALIVE. 35 sec total crank after 18 months and shes running. SOUNDS AWESOME TO! minus the oil leak let it idle for about 30 seconds and put it in gear and climb onto the trailer. Its at the Hospital now but itll be back

Oil leak, just pouring out, not alot of compression, probably HPOP lines somewhere

I would hope a 7.3 in good tune with no leaks would start a lot sooner than that after sitting. It's not like diesel goes bad the same way gas does from sitting.

Me too, it cranked so long because there was no oil pressure, hence why I believe the oil leak is HPOP not motor case
