We live in a very small town but I still don't know everyone. Today I did see my first Superduty with a 5" exhaust. I gotta track him down and see how that fits. I knew mine was close but never heard any rubbing. I was washing it one day and noticed oil on the shock. I crawled under only to find a hole worn in the shock. I just losened the u-bolt for the shock mount and moved it over 2" and put 2 tack welds on the bracket. There is a centering pin welded on the axle and it doesn't move with bracket. Another thing you can do if you decide to raise your truck more after puting all new shocks on is to rotate the mounts around on the axle so you only have to buy longer front shocks.

one more thought on the sound aspect
well, my two-cents is that I LOVE being able to hear that turbo spool up through the exhaust and that straight pipe is nice for that as long as it is not too loud. On another note, the fuel economy and performance difference is a nice bonus, and this will be my next addition to the PowerStroke. (Keeping my fingers crossed for a Christmas present) ~Turbotime |

Complete turbo back baby! Comes with a 3.5" downpipe that turns into 4" just after it turns to head toward the back of the truck. I had a few friends last night talking about getting a 4" downpipe for their trucks and they just thought oh goodness it's so much better than a 3.5" downpipe. . . I tried to tell them I've talked to a few different exhaust manufacturers and they said they tested several different setups and found that there is nothing helpful gained by going any larger than the turbo outlet. I know the 3.5" downpipe was easier to install than I thought, but it was still a very tight fit....good luck to these size obsessed fellas getting it to fit! I personally do not think it makes a lot of sense with these huge 5 inch or more systems. How much of the exhaust do you actually see? I only see the part of the pipe that goes just over my axle and turns, plus the tip. So....whatever I guess

I'm shure there is a differance, how much Idon't either. I'm shure that would depend on the HP level. My super and excursion were close at one time. The super has a 3.5 and the x a 4". As the HP went up the X even weighing more started pulling away. The 5" systems have a 4" down pipe. I don't know if diesel and gas are the same being that to big hurts performance.
