Exhaust? 4in. or 5in.

I know this has been answered before but I can't find the thread. I have an 01, 7.3, CC, long bed, Afe intake and a Super Chip programer. I am looking into after market exhaust systems. I am looking for pros and cons to both 4in. and 5in. turbo back systems (no muffler). Also if you know of anyone offering holiday pricing, that would be appreciated, or just a good place to buy. I also don't want to limit myself to future upgrades. Thank you in advance for any information you are willing to share. Happy Holidays

i have a banks 4 in turbo back system. it was on my truck when i bought it. im pretty happy with it. from what i understand anything bigger than 4in down pipe wont fit between the motor and firewall. i heard that 4in is fine but if you want it to be loud then go with the 5in. i have the banks 4in with a muffler and its plenty for me. i am going to take my muffler off and see what it sounds like. hope this helps ya.

Just depends on what you want your end result to be. When you say "future upgrades"...what do you have in mind? A 5" will give you a deeper tone, but a 4" can just about any amount of horsepower you will throw at it.

I have looked at Banks. They seem to be on the high end of the price spectrum. I would like a deep sound. That doesn't break the bank. I am also looking at installation pros and cons. I guess a shove in the right direction. MBRP? DIAMOND EYE?

a few folks have had issues with the mbrp kits. the downpipe occasionally hits the firewall. but most seem to be happy.
i bought 4 inch diamond eye and i really like it, install was easy and i did it by myself in my driveway. been on a year now and it still looks new.
4 inch is fine up to like 450 hp.
5 inch is just a little deeper sounding no performance gains over 4 inch.
so its entirely up to you.

Leaning toward the 5in. for the sound. I am just unsure what manufacture to go with. I appreciate all the positive feedback. I was sold on the MBRP but the firewall issue concerns me.
