1500 can be seen for a second or two, but is DANGEROUS...

another question, i'm pretty sure my truck is factory with no catalytic converter. Even with the muffler removed, the flow wouldn't be sufficient for safe egts?

it is safe, BUT the EGT's will climb faster with the less open exhaust...its not that you cat do it with the stock exhaust, its that you cant do it as long or as safely...

1250+ SUSTAINED EGT temps will kill your motor. 4" all the way through is considered the biggest you need to go unless you decide to go with some major power mods, which on a budge isn't gonna happen. 5" systems are more for sound, and w/o the major performance upgrades will not help (some say it could slightly hinder 140hp chip performance) Be careful though, once you catch pms you'll be spending much more then you ever wanted to!

Have fun, and welcome!

thanks for the information Maintain! i noticed you did the foil delete. When i did it, i had a helluva time getting the fiber/sticky stuff off. Threw it back in looking shaggy >< what did you use to remove the leftover material?

so just click it to 140 setting and keep that turbo out of boost?

also, I think its neat when the smoke streams out in truck pulls. will the stock 3.5" exhaust do that better? Seeing 5-6" setups makes the smoke kinda fall out and dissapate.

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

I ran my stock exhaust with the edge evo for about 3 months and it was great for smoking. I just put my stacks in last week (mostly to keep the soot off of the diamond plate on the trailer) and have to say that it does look cooler pouring out of them than the stock piece. If I do it right, I can sit still, hold the brake and spool it up blowing thick smoke above the power lines.

Actually, I think mine goes up faster with the stacks than the stocker Marc. But, i'm sure with a good intake/filter this will not be a problem.
