What axle do I have?

I emailed an off-road truck parts supply company in regard to pricing information for a limited slip Detroit Truetrac for the rear of my 99.5 F350 dually with 4.10 gears. A rep promptly responded "What axle do you have?". What is he asking?? Thanks

They need to know the size & manufacturer of the axle. I know one way to tell is to count to bolts around the diff cover, but as far as measuring I can't remember how to do it. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you. BTW GIG 'EM!!!

There should be tags on one of the axle housing bolts just take a look at it and it should say what it is and what ring and pinion is inside as well.

Isn't it possible he may have the Sterling axle in there as well? That's what my early 99 Duelly had. I'd identify the diff cover to be on the safe side.
