Spare engine

So I came across a 7.3 on Craigslist that's already been pulled from a 2000 super duty. The guy says it has two cylinders with low compression but the engine is complete. ( I assume he means injectors, hpop and everything as well.) He's asking less than 1k for it. I'm really tempted to pick it up as I would then have a platform to build on and two of everything as well. It seems like a good deal but I would probably offer a little less than what he's asking. Opinions? This is for a 2001 super duty also, I assume everything is mostly the same.

Yeah if its complete I wouldnt give more than $500. I passed on a complete 7.3 from a wrecked 97 for $750.

I picked up a '96 long block 7.3 that the seller said 'ran great when pulled' for $300... no turbo or any bolt-ons... I'm just glad I have a complete spare block, it was worth the $300 just for the injectors as cores.

I would agree, limit of $500 if it has the turbo/HPOP and such... less if not, he's already said it has issues. All you're getting is a rebuildable block and rotating assembly.

If you need a spare block with low compression they can be had for $300. If it is low compression I wouldn't pay over $400-500 since it is local. The injectors are worth $400 as cores if it comes with them tho.
