Is transmission fluid a fuel system cleaner

I heard and tried this. When I changed my fuel filter i filled my compartment will transmission fluid and every five tanks put a gallon of trans fluid in the tank. I have done this for a while, is it safe. Everything seems the same.

That all sounds crazy, but a friend of mine started his truck one morning, and was blowin white smoke. His diesel mechanic neighbor told him to add a quart of tranny fluid to his tank, and he did and it quit smokin and has been fine since.

I don't think I would do this with my truck.

Trans fluid is not enough cheaper than the good fuel additives that are available to be experimenting with a very expensive engine.

I'd suggest sticking with a quality fuel additive.
