steering box o-rings
i have an '03 that i replaced the steering box on about a year ago. it was a cheap rebuilt steering box that came with new o-rings for the power steering lines. i debated on using the new rings at the time and now one of them is blown.
i called the ford dealer and they say it should have some kind of teflon ring? he said they carry these but don't carry any kind of rubber o-rings, just complete lines that would have the rings on them. after some searching, it looks like the newer ones came with teflon seals... is it a different design of fitting? would i be able to use these teflon ones instead of rubber o-rings? if not, i'm just going to have to search for some generic o-rings that will work. |

i think i just figured it out, some of them use this style of fitting
![]() mine is a flared fitting that doesn't seal up around the threads. the nut holds pressure on the flared fitting. is it just a rubber o-ring? or is supposed to be teflon o-ring? |
