Alternator charging Question
I had recently changed out my alternator to a new 200amp Quick Start High Output model along with new batteries.
My old alternator had begun to whine, and my lights would flicker slightly in the mornings until the motor ran for 5-10 minutes. I thought the recterfier was going bad. And the batteries were 6 years old. It's now doing the same thing again. Any ideas as to what may be happening or suggestions ? Thanks , RB |

Sounds like a loose connection. I'd go back over all connections.
Do you have a tuner? |

Did you test the alternator before replacing ? The glow plugs can stay on until its warmed up a bit. Mine does that when its cold and the lights are on. I always wondered if something was wrong but learned its the glow plugs.

Thanks,
Checked the wiring connections, cleaned ground connection, nothing very evident as to a wiring issue.
The alternator was 200,000 miles old, started whining pretty bad, so I figured time for a new one anyway. I put my batteries on charge this weekend, and no more issues at the moment, everything is as it should. My amp guage was showing needle in the middle of the range prior to charing the batteries, and now shows the same, but no more flickering of the lights. ???? Still looking. thanks for the help guys, RB |
