99-04 vs 05+ headlights

Excuse me if this has been posted before but... I have a hid kit on my stock 99 headlights and i really like the look of the Harley Davidson 05 headlights. I know I have a 9007 bulb, and I think the 05+ is h13? is that right? and are they interchangeable so that my bulbs will work in the newer style headlights if not anyone had any luck with ebay headlights that look good? just not a big fan of the amber and hazy look i got going on

bulbs are not interchangeable. they do make pig tails to convert them.

i dont know if this is exactly what you need, but the pig tails are out there....

If your looking at having good lighting stay away from '05 up..very limited to better light output unless you do true projection hids .

'02-04 you can do a harness and Hella 80/100w 4k Kelvin bulbs or projection Hids.

We have both.. New True projection hid kits.

H13:

The 05 up uses the H13 which is quite possibly the stupidest design for a bulb ever foisted on the public. The terminals are so small that they overheat, even at stock wattages, and melt the plastic housing of the connectors. Higher than stock wattage bulbs are offered, but not recommended. There are Chinese connectors that are being used to make these kits and no harness will fix the problem of to small of terminals. As of now no USA made plugs are made that I have seen and wouldn't solve the problem anyway.

I like the housing you have with projectors. Think my HID kit will fit in them? they are a hi/lo kit

I bought my 05 headlights (actually 06's) off a member on here and have HIDs in them from DDM Tuning I have had 0 problems with them overheating and I also have a set of HIDs in my fog lights. I absolutely love the light output. If you want to be able to see at night, go with the 05+ headlights.

Hids don't draw the wattage that normal bulbs do..hence they will not be a issue...except retrofit kits will cause issues for all on coming drivers unlike a true projection hid thats installed into a Ford Housing.

There are kits available i which you replace the halogen bulb with a gas discharge bulb. The gas discharge light source is 2.5 times as bright as the halogen bulb and does not focus correctly within the headlamp, as the headlamp was not designed for this bulb. This creates excessive glare (up to 100 times), which blinds oncoming drivers, and is very dangerous. Can also get you a ticket...but they are cheap to buy.

Either way you go, using the clear 02+ headlights or the 05's, it is going to be a HUGE difference compared to what you have!!! LOL
