Intake

Thanks for all of the input! I have just always thought K&N was good stuff. Increase airflow and filter well. I am definitely more interested in making sure I am getting clean air into the engine than increasing the flow. I am bummed to find out that I spent all that money on the wrong friggin intake. I'm stuck with it for now so I guess I'll just get a pre-filter until I can convince the boss to let me get another one.

Get this, last time I took a trip to my hometown I only got 12 mpg, however, I changed out the fuel filter and got 14 mpg this time? I don't have a chip, but I am hoping to add some economy when I need it so I am looking at a ts chip thanks to the great input on this forum. Also looking at exhausts, which way should I go with a new exhaust? I don't want to make a similar error with this one.

I just ordered an Airaid filter to replace my factory filter on my 03 6.0 liter and it uses the factory cold air intake housing rather than the open air configuration. Does anyone have any input about this setup?
It was the cheaper route but I also wanted to maintain the cold air rather than sucking hot engine compartment air.

i think the issue is with any oiled type filter. brand dont matter in my opinion. k&n, airaid, s&b, green, if they used cotton gauze they aint worth my motor for a few extra hp. i'm an old school paper boy.

Cool Intake

That funny you should say that. Many things in life arn't, but just reinvented. We were always told that the cotton was better at filtering and passing more air. They now have many competetors and there in the bulls eye. If I hadn' had this many succesfull years I might doubt any of the cotten units myself.
