the typical ford power steering whine

I'm not sure if you guys noticed that a lot of ford vehicles always make that whine of the power steering. My truck was doing that and I flushed the fluid and put new fluid in. It still makes the sound. Is it usually the pump making the sound of the steering box?

I wonder if the sound will go away by replacing the pump with a new one.

My old work truck did that. I put 2 pumps on it and never changed the sound.

But my PSD doesnt, atleast not that I can hear.

So, I guess that I was no help.

Hmm were they aftermarket pumps (like kragens, pep boys) or were they Ford OEM pumps?

I know all older fords do it no matter what... I just think I can't hear it on my psd because of the diesel sound

lol I can still hear it with my straight pipe..I have one of those ears that hears every rattle or abnormal sound. It really bothers me. Like in my supra there was a faint thump whenever the car would certain bumps in the road. I took the entire interior and rear suspension apart to find the culprit. lol
