Repaint cost

Have 03 Ex and I want to have it repainted. I just had the hood and roof done a few months back because of hail damage and want to get the rest of it done.
I was going to strip everything off and have it completely disassembled before taking it to a paint shop but the prices i've been quoted have ranged from 5-8k.
The body is in excellent shape with only one door ding on the passenger rear quarter panel

That sounds right... for typical colors. An excursion is a big truck and wil ltake a lot of paint man.

Actual material cost will be around $500 the actual cost comes in the prep, and you get what you pay for. I just repainted my truck from bumper to bumper, and it would have cost around 5k if my buddy wouldn't have owned the body shop and I wouldn't have spent a few weekends and afternoons helping with the grunt work (sanding).

Agree with both guys above. Getting a quality paint job on a vehicle is not cheap. As Tally said the majority of the cost comes from the actual prep work. You can always get a cheap paint job at Earl Schweib or Maaco for less, because they basically just paint right over the existing paint with little to no prep work.... and the final outcome usually looks like you got what you paid for.

If you want it done right, my guess is it will cost somewhere between $5K and $8K depending on the amount of work required (any dents, etc.).

Thanks. I guess that will go to the back burner since the wife is letting me put in some injectors, turbo, and PHP custom tunes at the end of the month.

I think your truck looks nice in the pictures. Go fast goodies are always more fun than appearance ones in my opinion!

I give a rats pecker what my truck looks like (not that I want a heaping POS or anything... but I think I'm far from that) and cant fathom dropping $5-8g into a PAINT JOB. that would earn me a TON of power and a TON of money left in my bank account. You'll never get that 5-8g back if you drop it into paint, just fyi.

I got my truck painted a Maaco. A lot of you guys might laugh at that, but spending $6500 on a paint job is just plain crazy. Cost me $1450, which included the 2nd tier paint job, fixing a few rust spots and clear coat. Had my mustang done close to 10 years ago and it still looks good.

I was quoted at Ford $8k for bumper to bumper black (wifes Excursion), with a few dings taken out.

Not bad due to the size of the Excursion.
