2001 IS IT WORTH IT ?

Ive got a early 99 ext cab short bed great shape very clean 93,000 mil. A friend of my dads has a 2001 lariet crew dually with 29,000 mil its very clean to. All the miles on the dually or 80% of them are from pulling a fifth wheel. Hes asking $ 27,000 My ? is i was going to put 5,000 in mine all the normal mods plus trans and tc. And drive the wheels off of it.The reason i was thinking of the dually was the low milage and more power from the 2001 7.3 or is there really that much more power. And how cliose do you think he is on price i have my opion whats yours . Any opions would be great. thanks.

Keep yours and mod away! Seems a bit high even with the low miles.

well, That does seem pretty high for an 01 without any warranty -- but I bet he gets that for it...

I'd say keep yours and mod the heck out of it just to stay outta debt and start modding faster!

as far as power -- all the 7.3's are close to the same... but you will be more sluggish with the dually and 4:10 gear ratio (not to mention worse mileage)

Yeah don't get me wrong its probobly well worth it, but I wouldn't own a dually unless I was towing lots of weight all the time. Also thats about the cutoff date for pmr's so you can really mod the heck out of yours and not worry too much about bending a rod.

PMRs are powdered metal rods vs forged rods up till around 2000-01 they were forged rods. PMR's are good for about 400hp before you start breaking things. Forged are good for about 500hp give or take a few. I guess its up too you if you want a dually or not. I would say if you do then go for it for that price.
