How would my truck pull this?

Last night on the way home from work the chick and I stopped over at the local RV place because a trailer caught my eye as we passed. It’s a 34 foot KZ sportster. It’s a brandnew older model and they were pretty much begging me to take it away. They even offered to throw in a weight distributing hitch with the sway bar for free.

Here are the stats on the trailer 8100 empty, 800 dry hitch weight and a 2500 cargo capacity. I have a stock 01 f350 PSD SRW with air bags on the back and in about week a super man transmission o and I have the DIY intake too. I know I can pull it, my question is how well can I pull it? I had a gasser 1500 chevy that would have to work really really hard to pull my boat that only weighs 4200 lbs. I don’t think the PSD will have to work too hard on this trailer…. My main plan is to get a trailer that I can hook to the PSD and only realize its there when I look in the mirror.

What do you guys think?

My buddy pulls a 10,000 lb fifth wheel camper with his 99 7.3 on 35s. The truck does a real respectable job of it. A bumper pull is a little different, but your looking at a little under 10,000 with it loaded and that should be a comfortable load.

Your truck should pull it just fine. I pull a cattle trailer that grosses at +20,000lbs at it does a pretty good job.

I pulled a similar trailer back from the beach a while back for a buddy. I did not even know it was back there. You may want to get ya a flip chip with a tow tune on it. I think you would be very happy then.

I have towed a 10K trailer for over 7 years with my truck. With a stock truck towing a 10K trailer it well be noticed but it was built to handle that kind of load 24-7, so no worries.

With the new transmission make sure you get a tranny temp gauge. Even with a stock truck even a tranny can get hot and heat kills transmissions. You don't want to fry that new trans. At least with a tranny temp gauge you can pull over and let it cool down if it gets too hot.

If you are going to put in a chip of any kind, make sure you do the required supporting mods as well. Intake, exhaust, wicked wheel(or ATS compressor housing) and gauges.

I think the guys got ya hooked up, just make sure you have a good hitch and you should be able to tow it fine... and make sure you keep an eye on those trans temps!

Thanks for the advice. At the moment I am still trying to figure out what mod path I want to take. Gauges vs evo 2 vs quadzilla and so on..... I dont really like the many gauges look but I really like the DP chip features and programs. I dont know yet..... this tranny thing is a MAJOR setback in my mods but i guess that is ok for now. At least it did not blow up when I am in the middle of nowhere stranded at jim-bobjoes tranny shop with tooth picks putting my tranny back together. O well
