Has anyone analyzed their top end oil?

Just ran across a few threads about changing the "HPOP" oil.
I KNOW it's the same oil circulated thru the system, but reports indicate a possible sludge buildup.

Who changes their 7.3 top end oil?
Changing upper oil?

This thread is not to start a war about if it is needed or not. I'm asking if anyone has had it analyzed (Blackstoned?) and what the results were.

Some posters who did it reported "sludge", some said it was as clean as could be. My F350 has 135K and I'm sure it's never been done, but I'm not with my F350 for another month . So I can't walk out tomorrow and check it (I'm with my '09 VW JSW TDI that averaged 43 mpg over the last 8,000 miles it was all downhill ).

It seems like IF it was sludge it would be worth changing.

/edit several of the threads mention people have analyzed the oil from the HPOP, but I have not found any actual reports.

I have never done it personally, but I have seen it done on another site. It's the same oil

Yes it has, every time you've changed the engine oil

I know I'm not answering the question, because I've never had mine tested but I did do a upper oil change and IMHO was a waste of my time, because the oil was quickly changing to clean oil and I had not gone all the way through the steps. I keep my oil changed every 5,000 miles.

Heck, I've never sent my crankcase oil in to be analyzed...

I'm not really worried about the HPOP oil, as it's the same stuff. It gets circulated pretty quick when these trucks are running and with the oil temps at operating temp, I don't think there's much a chance for sludge build up. Plus it seems like that sludge would really f up injectors...really expensive injectors...

So as it stands now I'll consider the posts that report "someone has had their HPOP oil tested" as urban legend.

I am with the others.

The only way I would be concerned is if I was seeing sludge in other areas like under a valve cover or something. Then you can bet I would be into the hpop reservoir cleaning it out too but only because I had seen sludge and would be trying to completely eliminate it.

Why this keeps coming up is beyond me...its the same oil NO DIFFERENCE in any way.
This is like the cabin filter posts...waste of time.

No reason to do it unless you want to get the extra quart of old oil out.
