Rear U bolt plate
I am still working on the rust problem on my truck. I found the rear U bolt top plates VERY rusty and after removing the big chunks of rust they do not look very strong. I looked around for aftermarket ones and it looks like they are just flat stock with the ends bent up, Has any one made there own and would it be safe to make my own out of 1/4" or 3/8" flat stock?? also I can not get the rear shackle bolt out, the bushing is frozen to the bolt and is spinning on the rubber.

Looks like I am going to make new plates out of 1/2" plate. now I will have to cut both rear shackles off, The bolts are not coming out. I found a new set with bolts for $78....wow! Does anyone have a set that they don't need I could get?? Yes $$ are not there to do this project but it has to be done before it is too rusted out.
thanks |
