Already got a good toolkit along with everything electrical I could ever need......you know, in case I have to rewire the trailer on the side of the road in the dark and in the rain

Steve,
Sounds like you're on the ball.... you carry more stuff than I do! I'm the only redneck out playin' in the mud with the latin motto "Semper Paratus" on the back glass, and spare parts, tools, towstraps, etc.
Good luck with your trip, going to the trouble of having all the stuff with you that you might need seems to reduce the need for it... funny how that works...

Id throw and extra strap on the front of the boat, or in your tool box, I have hauled many boats, and ran into the trip from hell, lost the trailer, which inturn bent an axle, which then siezed a bearing, which then popped 3 tires, while I limped it from NYC to OH. All because of those STUPID hitches that you have to screw down, I wont ever use those again!

Boat is already strapped down really good, and I made sure to put a pin through the trailer hitch to keep it from coming off.

I'm outta here, wish me luck!

I'm glad to hear someone pins the latch on their trailers... I was helping a friend of mine load a truck the other day, his dad met us there with the his '02 F-250 and the son's trailer. As we come-along a dead Blazer onto the trailer, the hitch jumps off the ball... my friend and I both think the ol' man never even latched it, let alone used a pin to hold the latch down... swore up and down he did... trailer had been sitting, no scrapes in the rust where the latch would have moved if he had... poor ol' feller... don't even think he realized how easy he could have hurt one of us... scared me good... glad I din't have to follow him home, he didn't chain the Blazer down well eather... I tried to do what I could to sugjest the right way, but I wasn't gonna argue with my friends ol' man like that...

Well I made it down here no problem. Just finished fishing all day and finally got the boat cleaned up good.

I ended up getting around 10mph towing about 7000lbs @ 70mph on the way here.....is this typical for this truck? It's got the 7.3L in it, but I'm not sure of the rear end.

What kinda mpg is everyone else getting with that motor?

Glad to hear you made it safe! What is the truck a 4x4 xtra cab crew cab stock tires or oversize? Sounds close maybe a bit low. I get 14-15 pulling my 5 thousand pound boat running 60. Did you hand calculate? Also depends on the terrain.
