Turbo spool on start up?

Rirst off.. I have a 2002 F-250 7.3 and when i start my truck in the morning after i let it warm up for about 5 minutes it sounds like the turbo is spooling. Does anybody know if this is normal or not? This is my first powerstroke so i am not familiar with them. Any help would be appreciated.

its your Exhuast back pressure valve, its holding the exhuast air into the intake to help your truck warm up, its completly normal. If you have an exhaust it magifines it.

Your EBPV (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve) is probably closing to help your engine warm up. It's like a wooshing sound, and it is normal. You can get rid of it if you want, but it really isn't hurting anything unless it trys to stay closed while your driving.

I might be wierd but I love that sound! It work on a flightline so it sounds like a jet engine to me.

Yep...I'm a flightline guy too and all the guys at work think an APU or fighter is running on the line. The 6.0's turbos are actually louder than the 7.3's with the straightpipes. It's all I hear on mine.
