Cruise Control Strangeness

Ok - so about 4 months ago I snagged a 75,000 mile 01 cc long bed dually for 17,500.

Previous owner took nice care of it - has lots of nice things like gauges, new intake system, exhaust brake, and the interior looked like a showroom model.

The only issue (other than some minor hail damage) - is the cruise control.

Sometimes, it works great. Other times - you can set it, and it will last 2 seconds - or 20 seconds - or 3 minutes - or 1/2 an hour. Then it either:

1) Shuts off completely (you have to turn it back on and then set it) or

2) Just drops out of cruise (you only have to tell it to 'resume').

I have tried to look at possible loose connections - but am coming up short - so I turn to you - the experts - any ideas on what to look for?

I have had it work for 2 hours and then do the same thing - only to then work for another 2 hours. I am really at a loss on this one.
