E99 turbo
Ok I have a question, what's the difference in a e99 turbo vs. the late one? I have never had surge that I guess is common on the later ones. Maybe someone could help me with the differences between the two. Thanks

E99 has the now famous "wicked wheel" factory.
There might be housing size differences. |

So is it capable of building more boost?

Noooooo, I didn't say that
![]() I kid.The E99, or WW, actually produces roughly a few PSI less than a 99+ wheel. It just keeps surge down better. |

That and the turbo compressor housing is a little smaller than the late 99 and up turbo.
Killing time on here with my smart phone....

So I have seen 26 psi with my dp tuner. Would the later turbo be closer to maybe 30 ish?

Maybe. Boost isn't always power. Air flow is.

yep hes right. I saw over 34 psi on my stocker with stage 2s, and it made less power than my bigger charger that I have now, only at 25 PSI. airflow is what you want. higher boost can mean but sometimes doesnt always mean that your drive pressure is way out of whack, esp on a smaller turbo that you are pushing. I think i read somewhere where the stock turbo is max usable airflow somwhere around 26-28 psi.
