NEED MORE POWER

[F-450 HOTSHOTER]

I have a 1999 F-450 with 370,000 miles on it. I have recently started towing a 40ft gooseneck around. I have noticed that its having trouble with power for example I have to give it all its go to get over some of the hills even with a empty trailer. Im in south texas so the hills are not really bad. I have a edge programmer set on the performance setting was thinking about moving it to extreme but dont really want to hurt the truck. I dont have any egt or boost gauges or anyhting other performance mods. What do you all recommend me doing.

Set of gauges first and foremost. Then intake, exhaust and custom chip like a PHP or one of the many other brands.

Tons of threads about the common points: Intake, exhaust, gauges, then custom tunes for what you're going to be using the truck for.
A 6.0 trans cooler and a valve body if it's an auto trans. Synthetic diff fluid is a good idea.

all of the above, maybe a new turbo to wake up the engine some also. but definetly get a custom tow tune

The edge alone hurts the truck. like jesilvas said. Stage 1s and a 38r would wake it up a lot too. You need gauges badly tho, you probably are already running to hot of egts as it is with the edge.

You would be better off setting your progammer back to stock or if it has one, the tow haul setting. Preformance is not what you want when towing a trailer.

Set the Edge back to stock ASAP... get gauges ASAP. I have an Edge Evolution in our Excursion, and I do not like it, it makes the trans shift funny, and by compairison to the DP Tuners in my trucks, it's night and day how much the better the truck runs and shifts with the DP...

6637 filter and DIY intake, straight pipe the exhaust... simple and cheap, great returns on your investment.

A 40ft is a big *** trailer...

I'd take that edge out! It's probably running much hotter than you realize; and they beat the hell out of auto trannies.
