This is exactly right except the part about using 1-2 gallons on a start up. I drive about 4 miles untill everything is hot and switches systems so i use maybe 1/4 gallon (quart) on each startup. There for on a 36 gallon tank, considering my commute to work one way is 30 miles i got 2400 miles to one tank of Dino-D the lst time i filled it up. I no longer run it full to avoid the extra wieght. When my low fuel light comes on, i stop and put 5 gallons of diesel in it and that last me 2 weeks.

That's excellent news. The Ford vehicles must take to the veggie oil slightly better then other cars I've converted in the past. I'll hopefully be joining the ranks of the PSD owners and have a converted 7.3 as my shop vehicle soon

Well, i might add, on my conversion, i get a fair amount of diesel in the vegi tank durring the purge cycle so i maybe getting better milage on vegi from the diesel added to it. I also tryed running a bottle of Diesel Kleen in the vegi tank and seemed to get better milage.

If you live in Arizona I can help you with the conversion. I have quite a bit of knowledge about the subject and would be glad to give advice.

Thanks,

-Greg

I have a bone stock 2002 7.3 excursion. I currently get 19.7-22.9 mpg. To do this:

I run 80 psi in the 10 ply tires.
Run 5wt-40 sythetic oil, bypass filtration
Clean air filter
I drive on a small highway to work and back 40 miles a day, and don't exceed 57mph.

I do filter it and when i put it in the truck, it's cleaner than the diesel fuel we buy at the pump. Not difficult to filter 50 gallons at one time. A pump and a X-100 filterhousing from Mcmasters. Then i have a heated fuel system seperate from the diesel system. the heated lines bring the viscosity of the oil down where it will properly flow through another on bourd filter and then properly atomize through the injectors. The deadheaded fuel rails in the head are the final heat exchanger before injection.

Noobie Bought 02 7.3PSD with 177,000 miles on it

I'm getting about 11-12 MPG When I really baby it I can get 14 MPG. As far as I can tell everything on the truck is stock it's 4WD. I would love to figure out how to get 20 MPG. I might have to sell the truck if I can't improve the MPG. So if anyone knows what I can add to gain a 6-8 mpg improvement I would appreciate it. I think the tires are 285s I have never added any thing I live in Texas so the cold is not really a factor.
