Is it normal to hear a "sucking" noise with the 6637 filter?
Hi. I just installed a 6637 filter on my 7.3 and besides a noticeable performance improvement it also creates this "sucking" noise. I was wondering if this is normal.
I've checked the clamps a few times for tightness and haven't found any that were loose. And it isn't turbo surge that's making the noise, it kinda sounds like a vacuum. |

6637 are loud, no worries

that's normal... with the stock air box, the sound of the air flowing is muffled, so with the 6637, aside from the fact that the CFM ability is increased almost 3 times, there's no air box to muffle the sound.

Alright. It's pronounced when it shifts, kind of sounds like a blow off valve almost. Or if I give it some pedal at highway speeds I can hear the air being sucked in.
I figured it was normal, I was just making sure. |

In all honesty I can't hear mine at all, I noticed no change in sound. But maybe I just can't hear it over my stacks. lol

the "blow off valve" noise is either the wastegate or the air rushing back into the intake. Its fine. |

I have a CAI on my ram2500 360. When i get on it hard and let out it sounds like a blow off valve haha. 5.9's have a loud intake anyway. But yea that 6637 is the way to go on a SD.
