Boost Test Questions

I am going to build a boost leak tester and have a few questions.

Do I connect the tester to the turbo, or can I connect it to the intake hose between the air filter and the turbo inlet?

Is the system closed; meaning that if my system is tight then air will not flow through the turbo, intercooler, engine, and then out of the truck? If so, is there something I should close before I do this test (CCV that hooks into the bottom of the hose between the air filter and turbo)?

Would this identify leaks in the up-pipes as well?

I also assume that hearing and soapy water will be the methods for pinpointing the leaks. I have the jist of what to do, just want a little finer detail as to the mechanics of performing this test. I feel like I am missing some boost somewhere.

Please add anything you feel may be relevant.

Thanks in advance....

The turbo wont seal off... seal from the beginning of the intake to right before the turbo. Crank it up to 30psi or so, and turn the pump off. listen for air leaks and hissing.
