looking to add 2nd alternator

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with adding a 2nd alternator? I want to add one to my 20 F550. There is a place to bolt it on at the bottom of the motor on the passenger side. I was thinking about putting 2 more batteries in my tool box. I want to run all my extra electronics off them. I would like to add a voltage guage and a fuse block for the extra batteries. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to hook this up?
