Fog light add
Well, I have a 99.5 XLT
Didnt come with factory fogs, So i bought the fogs..harness, switch. Was reading on here that there should have been a pigtail for it....nope. Even ripped out the battery tray n junk to get under there for a better look. I know where I pulled off the harness from the donor truck...Cant seem to see one. So am I correct in saying that they used a different body harness for fog lamp version trucks, VS non? |

When I did the 05-07 front end on my 99 I added fog lights, which my truck didn't have from the factory. I had the whole front end of the truck apart and never seen any type of wiring or harness that could have been for factory fogs. I just ran the 2 wires from the fogs to a switch on the dash, and by doing it that way the fogs could be turned on regardless of the headlight switch position.

My truck has an unused wiring harness behind the bumper, underneath the left front turn signal. But, I'm not sure what it was for, as I could never get power to it. So, what I did was run a power wire off my headlight switch from the running lights, to a a relay, to the fog lights. Power was pulled directly from the battery for the fogs. Whenever running lights are on, fogs are on. K originally planned on adding a switch to this existing set up, so that whenever the running lights were OFF, the fog lights were off also. But, then I came to realize that whenever I have my running lights on, I will always have my fog lights on.
