Exclamation 1999 7.3 knock

Got a 1999 ford f250 powerstroke diesel. 170K miles. Automatic. it has a DP6 position tuner 38r ball bearing turbo air dog II pump adrenaline hpop and a silverline stack exhaust. Anyway what started out as a lite tap is now a notable knock especially through the drive through. It sounds to me like injector knock. The more you turn up the chip, the louder it gets. When its cold it doesnt do it only when its hot. Oil is 3K old in the motor. i got a 5 star tourque converter so i checked the nuts and such its tight. The engine is knocks more when in gear at idle. Neutral and park not so bad. when i throttle it the noise goes away. When im on the highway its nice and quiet. Already did the filters and such. No codes. Thanks, any advice helpful. Also it is coming from the drivers side rear of the engine as far as i could tell wwith the stethescope tool.

Subscribed. I have the exact same sound but from the passenger side.

If you're truck is an early 99 I don't think it'll have the long lead injector that is supposed to fix that cackle.

If it's driver rear, it might just be the dumb long lead/no long lead cackle.
Have you run a CCT and buzz test?

I ran a buzz test and they tested ok, but they seemed marginal to me. The knock is strange coming sometimes and once in a while even hot it wont do it? its baffling me really... I guess ill have to open it up and take a look inside the valve cover and get some more opinions from some mechanics at the shop... Im trying not to be a parts changer as parts seem expensive but it is more annoying than troublesome... Thanks guys

I cut open the oil filter. NOTHING inside to the likes of me!! No shavings or flakes so i doubt a rod is coming unglued. Off to holkenburg hes got a free 7.3 for me out of a wrecked van for FREE!! Complete too! Anyways still trying to figure this knock out its getting WORSE by the day...... UGG!

Did you determine what your problem was? i have same thing going on and getting worse, seems to knock louder when in gear then when in park or neutral.

I would bet it is just the know from the fuel. You fuel pump may be getting weak so on higher tunes it can't keep up and causes the sound to get worse.

I'm still having the same problem.

Got a hold of a SCT Livewire the other day and it showed 480 psi of high pressure oil at idle so I don't think it's oil pressure related. The weak fuel pump suggestion might be the best idea.
