Just picked up an 01 F250 for $3800 howd i do

Well as the title says... i just bought a 2001 F250 Super Cab 4wd with the automatic and 7.3 with 115,000 miles.

The Bad: The bed is totalled, it was hit while parked... The frame is 100% straight and drives great but like i said the bed is trashed.. that and it needs a new back window (previous owner hit it with ATV)

Did i do Ok for $3800??

So was the truck salvaged? If all it truely needs is a bed and a window then hell yeah you did great!

hows the condition of the rest of the truck, I would say you made out awesome if everything else is taken care of. You could make that in parts if you wanted to

Yeah...I'd say you did great.

A couple of suggestions.

1) Find out if there is a place somewhere nearby that does bed take offs. (They take the bed off to put utility beds on the trucks) You might be able to find a bed in great shape for a reasonable price.
2) Find an auto-wrecker that might have a truck with front end damage, but the bed is good.

Either way, you just may need to get the bed painted to match your truck. But for the price you paid, that expense may not be too bad.

Yes it was salvaged... the only things it needs are a back window and a bed (well and ball joints) its a very sharp looking truck the bright red extended cab short box look great to me!!

I'm thinking a flatbed because i dont want to spend a ton of cash fixing it when everything else works flawlessly... plus with a flatbed i can load my atv on with ease..

U should put a bed and window on it paint it and sell it for 12,000. Or keep it. For that price I would put a bed and window and get bed painted. So u spend 2500 to fix it up. So you would be into it about 6,000 for a 115000 mile 7.3 that's a very very good deal

I think your re-sell market is going to be low on it.. Because of the salvage title.. but because of your personal use for it.. I would go to a bed take-off place.. get a bed probably the same color of your truck for maybe a grand or 2.. and your into a solid 7.3 for 5k... and can keep it for another 10 years.

Sounds like a great deal. I just saw a super cab selling for $9100 with 195,000 miles. Nice find. Your ATV will still fit in the bed but it will be a little harder to fit 2.
Regards,

Dwight
