V10/PSD race

Ok my girlfriends dad has a 2004 F350 V10 and he wants to race me in my 99 F350, PSD, 6 speed. Were going to find a quarter mile and let it go. Any suggestions on how to launch? 1st or 2nd? Can I build boost simply by getting the rpms up to around 2000 rpms? Post up suggestions I know I can smoke him, but the launch is the place that he may get me!

Bumping this up for you Pain!

Just a thought though.... Are you sure you want to race your girlfriends dad? I mean this is a lose lose situation...... If you win, there is a good chance he'll be a sore loser, if you lose, well.... then you lost and will forever hear about it....

Very true! He brought the challenge up! I dont really want to but I feel like if I back down I will forever hear about it! He wants to do it this weekend. I would love to find an excuse not to do it, but he brings it up everytime I see him. What do you do?

Honestly.... tell him to meet you at the track.... with officials, times, etc..... Make it for real! Not just a back country road somewhere!

He brought it up... Go for it! Because he's the girlfreinds dad I'd keep the bragging to a minimum when you smoke him! As recomended by Banshee34, please take it to the track (so you can post the time slip!) and keep it legit. If the V10 wins, next race have a trailer in tow!:burnout

No Clue! I'm in a 6-speed and I'm not sure I can build boost pre-launch. You should spool up rather quickly so just keep those shifts fast and accurate. Best of luck!

its hard on the clutch......But you can set your ebrake, partially release the clutch so its dragging while spooing the RPMs up to gain so me boost, and release the ebrake right on take off, but if you mess any part of this up, its gonna be way worse than starting without pre boosting......

i would reccomend just dumping the clutch at about 2 grand.....

I think I will be ok, he will get me out of the gate but once I build boost I think I will catch and pass him. If I win I wont ever bring it up I dont care to ruin the relationship, if he wins he will say things every once and a while. But it will be rare.

i think it'd be funny if you smoke him to frame the slip and give it to him for christmas or something
course that's assuming he's a decent guy and you have a good relationship
