Paines I have a 5 speed in my dodge. Let me help you out here, bro! In my opinion Dumping the clutch works pretty well in gassers, but in my experience revving it up on a diesel without putting an actual load on the engine doesn't make any boost but maybe a couple of pounds, and that's not going to do anything but bog the motor bigtime and give you a horrible r/t as well as launch....believe me I tired several times doing it that way at street legal drag nights at IRP and had awful r/t's. I think that on the Ford 6 speed that the shift ball reads L-1,2,3,4,5 correct? My 5spd dodge has an "L" for low gear, but it's actually "1" on my ball. I never use 1 on my truck unless i'm getting going with a trailer, or traffic is crawling at a snail's pace. I can only do about 8-10 mph before I run out of rpm's and have to shift. Your L is probably like that true? Here's what I do. I put it into 4wd because if you don't you will spin...trust me. If you have manual hubs, turn your hubs to "locked" but leave the lever out of 4wd until you're ready to race. Now here's the part that you'll have to kind of practice a couple of times cuz it's a little tough. Don't go with the e-brake route. Once you pull to release it'll snap you back in your seat hard and may cause you to lose your grip on the wheel or shift lever. Instead you're gonna have to work all 3 pedals at once. It sounds tough, but it ain't too bad. I hold the clutch in, then I start by putting my heel on the brake and then my toes on the gas. I bring the rpm's up to around 2 grand or a little more. Then I let up on the clutch and it'll start to slip trying to engage. Hold that brake hard, cuz the more you slip it the more boost it builds and it'll wanna push through. Once the light turns green drop the clutch along with the brake and keep your toes on the gas the whole way through. But be careful, launches like this tend to go through your first gear real quick, so be ready to upshift. I've gone through my "launch" gear (2nd on mine) so fast before that i've hit the rev limiter and it caused me to bog going into 3rd gear. It's tough on the clutch, but as long as it's not already on it's way out it should hold. Mine held up well. If you get it right you'll rocket that thing off the line and should be able to get him easy. Any questions....let me know!

Yeah that is true, if you don't have a chip the cpu may not let you have the boost you want for the launch and the power you'll need after you're going.....

this is true...would HIGHLY recommend

Also, what 99somkin said...my husband and I race a lot just for fun (his little Nissan p/u) is a manual and the trick with using your heal to hold the break and then dumping the clutch...it WORKS! He has beat a lot of people in that thing who actually have faster cars simply with driving skills!

Good luck, have fun and LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES!!!:burnout

So we let them go on Saturday and he beat me by about 2 truck lengths. When we launched he jumped out alot but once the turbo built boost I caught him quick. If we had gone furthur I would have smoked him. Chip and exhaust will be on soon and we will have to give them another run!
