01 motor in a early 99 ecu qestion

i was curious if the early 99 ecu is the same as the 00+. to me it feels like the ecu is wrong for the motor. do they differ from 99 to the newer ones? could i send my ealy 99 ecu out and flash it to this motor?

If your early 99 PCM is and XLE coded box...it will work, but not as good as one that is coded for that year motor. I believe that Jody at DP-Tuner can flash early 99 pcm's now to later tuning...but you might want to check just to be sure. Even without the newer motor...I would still recommend getting a new flash to the pcm...or just upgrading to a newer pcm. I went to a PMT coded pcm...and the truck shifts and drives so much better.

or get a ts 6pos with custom tunes thatll overide anything the pcm has on it and give you an extra little pep...JMO
