Hot weather towing

Anyone notice some of these same things?

I noticed this weekend while pulling the trailer (8k) that it definitely doesn't like to pull as well during the heat of the day than when I'm driving back home around midnight.

I noticed that I can maintain 65 on the highway and only drops about 5 MPH on some of the hills at night. Obviously colder air is better for performance. In the heat of the day though it will drop down to about 45 on the same hills and I try to keep it at 1200* or less for EGT.

Something else I made a notice of when climbing one hill is it didn't down shift and was bogging the motor(O/D off) but it was only pulling about 9 PSI of boost and I went from 60 MPH down to 35 on this hill. I had the pedal about 3/4 to the floor and was all I could to keep the EGT down. Trans was hanging out at about 165* and it was around 95* ambient air temp so it was about normal.

I have noticed that this powerstroke is not very sensitive at all to outside temps. With a proper (big) trans cooler and the AC running I have been surpised at the changes in temps as I head into the desert towing.

So, no. No difference in weather.

I have noticed that I the tow to the location goes faster in my head since I am not bored with towing yet and on the way home I usually really want to get home so it seems to take longer. That's just all mental.
