Hey, I have a 2000 F350 4x4 7.3 and I heard from a buddy that a muffler delete will help a good deal to let the engine breathe more. Well, i started researching it and I've decided I want to get it done on my truck.
My question is this: Will an auto shop actually cut my muffler out and weld the 3.5" pipe in place? I only ask because I don't have the tools to do it myself, and my only other option would be driving back to my parents house 100 miles way and doing it in my dads garage, and with just the clamps (I'd prefer a weld). Anyone had luck going to a garage for a muffler delete? If this is a DIY kind of job, any tips on how to get it done with the best results? Thanks in advance! |

Some will, some won't. I found one that would but I went in and asked him first then set up the appointment.
It is pretty much a DIY. He only charged me $25 to install it but it was simple and I would have done it myself had I had a welder but honestly it was worth $25 for me. All you have to do is measure from where you're going to cut before and after the muffler. Cut your pipe and weld in place. No bending needed. Not a big fan of the clamps. You may be able to do the pipe yourself then have someone weld it in. They may just weld it but not cut off the muffler. Dropped my EGT's 100* and the sound is loud and whistle-ly. |

I had it done at a shop. Paid 50 bucks. If I had to do it again I would probably just do it myself. I didn't have a welder before though.
