Which Alternator should I get?
So my alternator went out on my early 99 F250. I am looking for something larger than stock. What do y'all suggest?

AutoZone = Lifetime warranty

I do not have an answer, but curious what gets mentioned. I replaced mine last yr, but do not recall what I bought. I know its same output at original though.
I do not recommend lifetime warranty items, they tend to crap out more often. I would rather pay more for a quality part than to replace the part over and over, but everyones experience will be different Last edited by INFRNL; 05-25-2012 at 09:52 PM. |

Go to orielly's and ask for the alternator off of a 05 f550. you'll need a set of the thick lock washers they have. put them between the alternator and the bracket. It's a 140 amp alternator mounts right up no problems.

sounds like a old style large case ,, DCPower uses them to run cooler so My 06 from them shipped with 3/16 (IIRC) spacers

it didn't take much at all to space it right. I warrantied the one that was on the truck when I bought it and made $5 of getting the 140amp haha
