Gauge install, new findings.....

ok, I just installed my Stewart Warner Whit faced Guages and pillar pod. I would reccommend these guages, all except for the Trans guage. They look noce though! The probe they sent me along with the screw thingie that hold the probe in are too big for the hole on the drivers side of the trans ...I am waiting on a reply from Stewart Warner themselves in this as far as where They think I am supposed to install this. I will add some pics later this evening.

Now, what I noticed while driving, is that at 60mph or so, my pyro reads around 650* or so. 75 its around 850*. Thats at cruising. If I mash on her, The guage hits 1200* in 3rd gear at WOT , if I let out of it at the top end of 2nd gear, it stops at 1050*. Do these temps sound right? I didnt know that the WOT temps got that high!! I never saw it go above 1200* though.

As far as boost is concerned, I had a cracked hose going to my MAP sensor, so I replaced it when I put my boost line in. I hit 13.5-14 PSI max Boost. Is this about right? I havent taken the red line off of the wastegate yet.

And, for the above mentioned problem with the trans probe, does anyone know of a way to install the probe in another tapped hole in the trans? The probe is bout 3/8" diameter, and the screw hold thingie(my brain thesaurus isn't working right now) takes a 5/8" wrencg, and looks like a 1/2" diameter coarse threaded peice.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. THANKS!!!!

Your egt's sound about right, but your boost is low. Check to make sure you don't have a kink in the plastic tube running to the gauge.

Also you can cool those egt's a bit by going to the diy intake.

My egt's with my mods are 250-300 at idle 500-600 running 60 on level ground and I have seen close to 1200 running on level ground with the pedal to the floor running it all the way up to 100mph.

Yeah, they are 350 at idle, and like I said, it never went above 1200 at wot, all the way to 75mph. I am gonna upload some pics of the guages in just a sec. Any idea about my trans probe problem as discussed before Vitalidle

Gauges look great! As far as I know thats the easiest place to put the probe is in the service port. They should have the right fitting for your trans.

Definitly need to get some more into that thing, and let the air get out faster and you'll see lower EGT's.

Boost does seem low even for stock. Where are you getting your reading from, MAP line or AIH plug? I've heard the AIH plug is more accurate???

As far as the Trans temp port, They must have the right one in stock for ya. Get it from them, you'll be good to go!

Gauges look great!
congrats!

Sorry, I just saw that you already have a 4" Silverline 409 under there. Does that have a muffler on it? If so a muffler delete pipe may lower the temps a little.
