Tires and re-flashing...

Thanks for the welcome folks, lots of friendly people here. Question: If I go to say 285's or 275's 75 R16s (stock was 265/75R/16), can the lost diesel mileage be corrected by taking the truck to a dealership and having them reprogram the stock chip to compensate for the larger tire size? I'm considering the BF Goodrich's Desert Duelers. I have them on a 4x4 Suburban, and they are great. I want to make sure I'm understanding this stuff before I go spend the dollars...Opinions? For you folks in El Paso, have any recommendations for good diesel mechanics in the area?

Take care,
jason

Welcome!

I know that the dealership can re-correct a speedo up to 35" tires. It'll do about 34, 34.5 really... but mine was done and I'm running 35's and it's just 2 mph off at 97mph. (know from the track). It'll say about 95 and I'm going 97. So that's darn close at lower speeds.

hope this helps!
