4x4 indicator

Hello
I have a 2000 f-350 crew cab dually with 7.3. Last winter I lost my 4x4 indicator light on the instrument cluster. I have the manual locking hubs with the shifter on the floor. The truck goes in and out of 4 wheel drive fine but I cannot find the indicator switch on the lever. Has anyone out there done this yet. If it is internal on the trans then it will stay that way. Any help would be appreciated.
Keep on Strokin

Maybe just the bulb burned out? Do these newer trucks even have bulbs? I have the same truck, man hubs/shift lever/year. I was looking at mine the other day, remember seeing the wiring that I thought would go to that, but don't remember if it's on the shifter linkages along side the trans, or if it's directly on the transfer case... think it's on the transfer case. Crawl under the truck and look... along the drivers side of the trans, you'll see the shifter linkage, and where it goes back to the transfer case. the only wires that I know of that go to the transfer case should be for the 4x4/low range switch/indicator lights.
However, I'm new to these trucks, someone else here will know more than I.... just my 2 cents worth...
Good luck!
Greg

Thanks for the input. I will look under this weekend while my wife shifts the lever. It is not a serious issue but it would be nice to have working again.

I would take the shifter apart and see where it contacts with any electrical sensors. Also, take the gauge cluster out and see if the bulb is blown. I'm betting it's the bulb.

4x4 indicator light

Last night I was under the truck and found a 2 wire plug on top (driverside) of the transfer case. That has to be the switch for the indicator light. It is hard to get to be I am researching to see if I engauge into 4 wheel drive and jump the 2 wire plug and see if the light comes on. I am not sure if it is a open /closed wire or a positive /negative feed. I think it is open/closed so if I jump it the light it should come on. Will keep everyone posted on this nag issue. It is not a problem but would like it to work.
Thanks everyone.
Steve
