What yr truck?
The odd ball #8 inj from what i know is only in effect with 99.5-03 engines.
the seven inj codes aee "ad" and the eighth is an "ae" inj.
"Ab" injectors would come in an early 99 i think and all were the same.

Wait for another opinion though as im not sure on this.

I thought that should have all "ad" injectors or possibly have the "ae" in the #8 cyl.

Have you looked to see what ones are in your truck?

Hope im not sending you off on dumb searches! Lol

Are you just buying stock replacement injectors?

yes just stock replacements, i actually just got them out of another 99. You may be right but i don't want to throw them in there and find out that it does matter i was told you'll ruin the truck if you put the #8 in the wrong place

Did you get them from another 99.5?

My understanding on the injectors, "ab" inj were in the early 99. When ford did there change they went to an "ad" injector in 99.5. Those created a cackle and the solution was the "ae" injector in cyl 8.

I really dont know if this is correct. Just the way i have thought it worked.
now, if this is correct, your pcm is programmed for either all "ad" inj or 7 "ad" and 1 "ae" inj in cyl 8.

i was told the truck i got them out of was a late 99. I'll have to do some looking around on this subject

i honestly don't know what mine has in it and i can't just go look at them real quick, now you've got me doubting if these are the right ones for my truck

i just checked and i do in fact have AD injectors thank you for pointing this out to me these are the wrong injectors for my truck
when i looked under the valve cover i noticed that the #8 injector is an AD not an AE does anyone know if this is a problem? the engine does shake more than i've seen other 7.3's shake could that be the reason?

My understanding is that international built these engines with "ad" injectors in every cyl.
Then somewhere around 00-01, ford released a tsb about cackling injectors. The solution was to replace #8 injector with a long lead injector "ae". Everything built after a certain date has "ae" injector in cyl 8. Everyone that came in to ford complaining about cackle got #8 injector replaced with an "ae" injector and reprogrammed.

I dont know if you would want or need to put an "ae" injector in cyl 8. That is for someone else to answer.
