Keyless remote antenna

I have noticed that my keyless remote range has gone to crap, I have replaced the batterys a few times and its not helping at all.

does anyone know where the keyless antenna is located and I can see if I can extend it? or re route it to make it better?

Thanks

Matt

I'd be interested in this too, as I have no idea what would pick-up the signal from the remotes and where it is. I have the same problem and have been thinking maybe its the remote? I don't have a spare to verify if it also has poor range.

Mine is on the windsheild up top in the middle. Make sure that it does not have window tint between it and the glass. That will kill your reception.

Very nice man, thanks for the info. Just so happens mine does have tint over it!

BTW, how did those V-LED bulbs work out for you? Those guys sell some nice quality stuff.

I don't believe that at all... I have tint on my truck, including the front glass, and reception hasn't changed with or without it. BTW, that little dome thing on your overhead console isn't for the remote entry, it's for the compass.

Matt and Caloos, try buying a new remote off Amazon or Ebay. They're like $11 and work great, and they're super easy to program.

Im going to do this, just thought I might be able to increse my range if I can find the antenna and extend it.

after some research though I found out its in the Vehicle Securty Module and the module its self is the antenna so there is no way to extend it. this is dumb. So I guess Ill get the remotes. Im with carlos because I only have one remote so I cant compare it to anything else.

thanks for the input.

I'm totally guessing here, but I imagine the remote door lock system uses a very low frequency signal, and as such gets great range and isn't affected much by the bodywork of the vehicle. I'd bet your remote is going out.

yea, it was a thought to get an antenna up higher and it might help.

I had a buddys land cruser that his remote sucked. we found the module and exnted his antenna up to his door jam and now he can hit his remote from like a mile away and open it (of course its not a mile but you get what I mean)
