new icp sensor-new problem

My E99 was suffering with a rough idle but only sometimes. When i unplugged the icp sensor it had oil on it so i replaced the sensor. Now i get the same rough idle (sometimes it idles really smooth)(weather in park or drive with foot on brake) but a new symptom is on the first start of the day, it.... for lack of a better term, romps. It does it 4 or 5 times then smooths out. (romp, romp, romp, purr). I havent changed anything besides the icp sensor. Also, sometimes when driving the truck is really quiet and sometimes it is very noisy like the injectors are loud or a loud clatter i guess. Otherwise the truck runs really good and im getting about 460 miles per tank of fuel. Sorry this is so long and thanks for any help.

check glow plugs.
I had the same condition that developed into white smoke on cold starts.
found 2 bad glow plugs and when changed, not one more symptom.

I don't know if the E99's had the same problem as the 99.5-03 7.3's with the CPS issues but if so you may have a CPS going bad/has gone bad. See if you have a black, grey, or dark blue CPS. Could also be a sticking injector from what i've read. If you have access to a scan tool like Auto Enguinity you can run it for DTCs. My truck throws a P0284 which correlates to a #8 injector fault. The truck has thrown that code for the past 10k miles but i've never had a problem until recently when it felt worse with the romping and rough idle. The code could be because of a CPS, figuring it out is the hard part...

I have a 2000 F-250 and this winter my truck shut down due to an ICP sensor. A couple of months later I had to replace my UVCH and valve covers due to what seemed like an intermittant miss and rough running engine. Once I installed the new UVCH, the truck has been running fine. Hope you find your issue soon.

Thanks for all the replies. I checked the codes and p1211 keeps popping up, it says "icp pressure low/high engine running". I am gonna take it in and checked out. This morning when i started up for the first time it was normal, no romps and was smooth and quiet/normal when driving.
