7.3 trans cooler swap

I purchased a used 31 row trans cooler to put in my 99 7.3. I have two questions. Do I need to flush out the 31 row cooler before I put it in and if so what do I use to flush it out with? Next question is when I hook the new lines up to the 3/8 to 1/2 adapter, what kind of material should the adapter be? Should I buy one that is copper, steel, aluminum, I have no idea please help!

The flush - I'm not sure - You might want to call a radiator or transmission shop for the answer.

Adapters - the ones I bought were brass, if I remember right.

You can get 1/2 inch line from any auto parts store, just make sure its oil rated.

I got my rubber 1/2" line at Napa Auto Parts here locally - it was Marine grade hose.
