Looking for some general stock info
I bought my 01 F-250 7.3L about 3 months ago and i love it to death. I've been doing tons of searching and reading trying to get as much knowledge as possible. So in my research i wanted to get a few questions asked.
-What exactly is the stock hp / tq of an 01 7.3L, i've seen so many people say different things. So far it looks to be around 235 hp 500 ish ft lbs of torque. -What is the stock boost pressure of the 7.3 I read that the 99-00 had forged rods but the 01+ had other rods, are these engines condierably weaker? which goes into my next question, what kind of hp can i expect to safely run on my stock 01 7.3L? Are these engine prone to any problems with mods or are they fairly reliable. I planned on doing intake, exhaust and an Edge evo 2 on my truck. I figured that would get me close to 320-340 hp And whats the difference between the 6.0 and the 7.3, i read the 6.0 makes way more hp modded, just curious why. Sorry for all the questions but i'm a sponge and i want to absorb as much as possible. I've been building turbo cars for a while but this is my first diesel. Feed me knowledge

Hi there ![]() you are correct on the stock hp/tq numbers for an auto truck... boost pressure stock should run around 18 psi max the 01+ ish (some 01's have forged rods that were still left over) rods are PMRs and are only weaker at high HP levels.. generally speaking, you are safe up to 400 HP with the stock rods in an 01+ With your Evo - you won't be running anything too serious - so you should be fine. the 6.0 basically comes from the factory "tuned", so when you start adding tunes and mods - you get way more hp quickly -- which is why many believe they were having so many problems b/c they are already "maxed" from the factory hope that helps

Haha. You have no idea how a dumb kid with his hat on sideways with his BONE STOCK car and his monstorous wing and his hideous body kit drive me crazy. Not to mention the always enjoyable fart can sound. Those retards make true driving enthusiasts like me look bad. I just enjoy when they try to do there little ricer flybys and just before they get to me i hit the gas and take off, i love the looks on there face. You'd have to see my car it looks like a piece of ****, just how i like it. Flat black car, red passenger door and a white roof. You'd never expect it to have the power it has. Well i think with the bolt ons and the programmer on my truck i'll be more than happy, i was pretty suprised in the stock performance for an 8000 lb beast to begin with. It definately gets up and goes. |

Lets see some pics of the Honda. I have all kinds of respect for someone that can get huge HP out of a 1.6-2.0L motor. Heck, right now you are probably running more HP in the Honda than the PSD.
You need to change that fast
