need advice!

My 99 7.3 makes a fairly loud fluttering noise when towing up a hill. I'm guessing its the turbo or waste gate but is it normal? Is there anything I can do to fix it like a wicked wheel IR afteemarket waste gate? All the truck has done to it now is a super chip

yea its normal. ww is supposed to fix it but i dont know how good they work but im sure someone here has one that can tell you better than me.

I've heard you lose a couple pounds of boost with the wicked wheel.

It's turbo surge.
The SD wheel tries to force more air in at a certain boost level but just can't due to the fluid dynamics of the air and blah blah stuff compression.
Anyway, the wheel is not efficient in that range.
A WW is better at that range, but can lose a pound or two of boost. Big deal.
A ported shroud is guaranteed to fix it.

You can try a ww, but just know it might or might not solve the issue.
Ported shrouds are expensive. What are your plans with it

WW fixed mine until bigger injectors went in. most people I have heard from say the ww fixed their surge. the ones that say it didn't seemed to be the ones that towed really heavy pretty often.

I tow fairly often but never very heavy loads. I ordered the ww and the ported shroud also so hopefully that will take care of it.
