things to look for?
Looking at buying new (to me) truck.
Bought a brand new '97 f250 ext cab long bed 2wd diesel way back when, and it was my baby. Was all I could do to afford diesel option at the time. Basic work truck, auto and air, vinyl seats. Treated me well through thick and then. Was a real work horse for me. Had 200K miles. Took to job out of town, checked into hotel the night before and 30 minutes later some thief takes it, all my tools and trailer. Really hurt my feelings. Had intended on driving that truck 25 years and was well on my way...oh well, life throws another curve ball...
Hard looking for replacement. So many have so many miles. Can't really afford new one these days. Heard some bad things about 6.0, leaning toward another 7.3 since had so much luck with last one. Used truck prices reflect the popularity of 7.3, probably for good reason.
Anyway, found 03 7.3 with low miles (125K) in good shape. Appearances look good, no drips on driveway, cranks and runs well. This one is chipped, though and has new intake and exhaust. "superchips.com...1855 flashpac" This I'm not familiar with...
What should I look for/at? Can I take this one to dealer for inspection? Seems they wouldn't like too much aftermarket stuff, particularly on engine itself. Would like to get some kind of confirmation I'm not buying an imminent repair job....
Any advice on how to check, what to look for, etc, on this truck would be much appreciated...
Thanks much in advance,
Teal
