If the body is in nice shape, it is probably worth it! The 7.3s really seem to hold their value. Mine is an 01 6 speed xlt super cab, short box, and I paid 19k for it 2 1/2 years ago. 137,000 KMs on it at the time. It now has 183,000 KMs. I changed out the water pump last week, and Ive done the Stancor glow plug relay. Thats it! Super reliable! Ive seen 7.3s with 300,000kms go for 10k still!
Just a tip, add a tuner or programmer. It really wakes these trucks up! Even on economy mode, the power difference is like night and day. I just have a Superchips flashpaq (which Ive read is junk!) and it works great! I didn't see any MPG gains, but the power is worth it! BTW, I average 15 MPG, with a best of 19MPG! Thats with 295/75/16 BFGs'

I paid $9,000 for the truck in my sig and it had all the mods except the chip already done. Had 199,000 miles and bought it from the original owner.
