Exclamation Need valued opinions on what is up with my truck!

I have a late model 99 psd with 213,000 miles. Runs great, when your not pulling something. If you didn't pull anything the truck runs like new. This morning I test pulled my 7500 lb travel trailer. When the truck would shift there would be a shuffing noise. If I just cruised the issue wasn't that bad. I tried getting in it over a hill and it got up to 2900 rpms and the service engine soon light came on. I assume this is because of high boost levels. My truck only has a banks turbo back exhaust, diy intake, banks transcommand, and banks wastegate. Since it is not tuned (which I know for a fact), should the light be coming on. With my current mods would a stock wastegate be better? Does anyone have any experience with a banks wastegate? I don't want to chip or tune it. I just want to be able to pull dependably. I just installed an updated cam sensor, fuel filter, speed sensor, flushed rear diff, ccv mod, and new batteries. I also switched my 315 bfgs for 285's.

Also, what would be the easiest way to get rid of the surge. I know about the wicked wheel and the ats housing. But what is the cheapest route. I am going on a 360 mile trip to Alabama and back (total of 720+ miles). Would this issue be damaging to the truck during a 7.5 hour haul to Alabama? When I get back, I plan on putting a new turbo on the truck with the ww in it. And fixing my stupid turbo pedestal leak. Like I said, I just don't think the truck is agreeing with the turbo. Sometimes it would do the surge for more than 30 seconds at a time, which really gets on your nerves. All I know is that the problem is with my turbo. The engine is great. Could the noise be the engine defueling to too much boost? The turbo spools up good an the bearrings fell great in it. It has the stock wheel in it as well. I just want to get the truck where I can pull and not worry about anything, if you know what I'm saying.

All replies will be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't help you very much, but maybe someone else can. I almost want to say you might be beginning to experience transmission problems?

I didn't even consider the tranny. But I am 90% sure that it is the turbo. The turbo is so much louder now with the intake, you can hear what is going on. Thanks for the reply. By the way, the tranny fluid smells and looks perfect.

I talked to a trusted 7.3 mechanic in my area. He told me 2 or 3 things my problem could be off the start. He said that the service engine light coming on over a grade with a stock truck is not overboost, it is a clogged exhaust back pressure sensor. So, I pulled it off yesterday, and the sensor and the tube were filed with soot. I doubt it has been off since new. The tube also had a hole in it. I'm going to buy the tube from the dealer but if anyone on here knows of a cheaper place to get the sensor it would be greatly appreciated.
