How to test EGT's?

I recently installed gauges and tuner (already have exhaust and CAI), and im finding that even with the tuner, i dont really see my EGTs go over about 750-800. I dont know if my gauges arent reading accurately or if they are truely that low.

Anyone have any suggestions of how i can verify EGT's??

Same with me. I have seen over 1,000 once while towing over the mountains from California to Arizona. My probe is on the drivers side up pipe just behind the manifold.

Pre-turbo. There was an EGT in the truck when i bought it already, but i didnt have the tuner in it yet. I bought an A pillar gauge set up, then installed the tunes, and everyone keeps talking about reading up to 1100 when really getting on it, but the highest ive seen is 750-800, and only for a very short time.

I dont tow anything heavy, my boat and trailer are only about 4k, maybe a little more. The truck seems to be running fine, just cool...

did your gauges come with a new probe? might try out a new one, you should be able to hit 1400+ no problem
