I might just see what I can fab up. Seem easy enough now that I think about it. Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees. Anyway, sounds good, I will do some looking and let you guys know what I come up with.
As far as Traverse City, it used to be really nice. It's just getting too darn big these days. There are houses in some of the places I used to hunt that were in the "middle of nowhere" back in the day, and there are just too many people. I tend to agree with you about the area around you being "God's country". I'm just not as cold hardy as I used to be.....lol. Thanks for all the help guys.

Well, I checked for the leaks....None found....I did find a few nicks on the compressor blades though...Maybe the turbo is just partially "dusted" and won't put out the boost. What about the EBPV? I keep getting a code for that, but it seems to run ok, if it was stuck closed could that lower boost? Here are some decent pics of the turbo. See what you guys think....I can only guess how bad the damage is based on the blades in the jet engines I work on....and I get the impression you can't really have ANY nicks on a turbo.

Ok...A few more questions. Since I have no leaks, is it possible the wastegate was misadjusted at some point? If it turns out my tubo is shot, what does everyone recommend for a replacement...Rebuilt/new factory one, the garret ball bearing one like this one?
Garrett Ball Bearing Turbocharger
I don't plan on getting too retarded with the upgrades right now, but may consider "big oil" and injectors in the future and I guess I would like to have something that will work good now, but have a little room to grow into. I know it's hard to "have your cake and eat it too" though. Just trying to get some ideas. Anyone know of some good reading to learn about diesel/powerstroke upgrading so I can try and understand the order and finer details of these upgrades (Turbos, injectors, big oil)?

Edge level 1, wouldn't that be close to stock if not stock itself? Is the boost reading from the edge?

From my uneducated analysis I would say your compressor wheel has normal wear, what's the mileage on it?

Dusted to me is a noticeable worn and damaged wheel, not just a few nicks even though the edge of that one looks a little pronounced, probably nothing to worry about. What I would do, is put your finger on the center of the wheel and see if there is any slop.

Edit:

Do this as well, unplug the red hose from the wastegate and take her for a spin, you should see more than 16PSI

Ok...I can try that out just to see if it can do better. I have been doing some searching about the wastegate and whatnot. It has about 140,000 on it. I don't think the edge specifies exactly how much gain level 1 (Tow) is, but I think I remember hearing that it was about 60hp? Anyway, the boost readings are coming from my ISSPRO gauges mounted on the pillar, the edge is just the evolution, so no gauges or real readouts from it. The only other thing I am looking for right now is the PROPER way to adjust the wastegate so I can see if that is my problem. I know shortening the rod makes more boost, but there must be a procedure to do it right. Thanks for the ideas and second opinions.

I'd put in a higher power tune from the Edge and see how much boost you can get with the red hose removed on the wastegate then come back.

Ok....Things are looking up. Today I went out and installed the level 2 (80hp race) program on the edge and disconnected the wastegate line. HOLY CRAP what a difference! This thing don't mess around now. Almost immediately get 25-26lbs of boost and it scoots out. So now I have 2 more questions, Would this mean my wastegate is adjusted wrong, and if so what is the proper way to adjust it? and Why wouldn't everyone just disconnect that line and run it like that? What are the downsides? You guys have been a big help, I had almost already resigned myself to a new turbo (Not that a new turbo would have been a bad thing. ) Let me know what you all think.
