Tach doesn't rise smoothly when accelerating hard

Hey all -
So I have noticed that my tach doesn't seem to react correctly to the engine sound that is being made. The needle jumps, seems like it sticks then keeps rising. Doesn't seem to be trans related, no shifting woes or slipping.

anyone experience this?

Thanks -
Scott

I know what your talking about. My 6.0 does it when I put a new tune on it. After a few miles it goes back to normal. I've seen lots of old gasser trucks that do it. I've seen lots of 7.3's as well
